@ New Haven Night Market

The older an object is, the more memories it carries. Sometimes, these objects tell you about its past lives— through its wear and tear, its fade and stain.
This interactive pavilion, crafted from reclaimed pallets, is a living canvas for collective storytelling. At the event, we invited the community to add new layers of memory through painting, writing, or drawing.

This space is built from reclaimed pallets. Each element here wears its history on its sleeve.
Each scratch, stain, and faded edge is a reminder of where it’s been and what has touched it.
Think of it as a living canvas, weathered by the years. It drank in water from the earth and sky; it grew into a tree. It was harvested, cut, given new purpose: to carry, to store artifacts.
It absorbed more rain, swelled and shrank with the seasons, slowly warped under the burden it bore and polished by the hands that bore it in turn.
Now the weight is gone—but the wood still holds its shape, bent by memory. It remembers in its posture, in the way it breaks.
Now it’s your turn.
We invite you to make your mark—draw, paint, write. What new layers will you give the wood to carry? Add your story to this community artwork.
